Janine-Opal Fischer, born in Munich, studied and worked
as a professional contemporary dancer in France before moving
to England where she obtained her MA in Dance for Screen at
the London Contemporary Dance School. She has produced and
directed award winning films and documentaries including
Two More Minutes (2004),
Torque (2005) and
A Stripe of Bèlè (2007). Her work has been featured
in cinema and on television across Europe and the United
States. Installations include Bloomberg's European
Headquarters' Commission in London. She has garnered multiple
awards and honors including the Certificate of Distinction at
the American Dance Film Festival, the London National Film
Theatre short film competition, the Institute of Contemporary
Art Film Festival and the Phoenix Film Festival following her
year of Graduation. Her talent lies within her ability to
produce projects that integrate multiple artistic platforms
such as stage performance, film, installation and visual
arts. These projects allow her to choreograph on multiple
levels: for the camera, with the camera and through the
editing process.
She is currently working as an Art Director on a European
Union funded Project for the EACEA (Education, Audiovisual
& Culture Executive Agency). Leading five art projects
for 2008, her aim is the production, discussion and exchange
of ideas on audiovisual communication in both the European
and multicultural context.
